Stuart Knaggs trained as a mechanical engineer in South Africa. His first work experience was in the automotive industry, working in R&D for Toyota and later Ford, involved in both component design and prototype testing. He later moved to the marine industry and became involved in fleet maintenance, first in the Mediterranean and later in the Caribbean. In 1995, Stuart became involved in surveying and has been a full time marine surveyor and engineering consultant since then.  Outside of the work environment, Stuart is a general sportsman and a keen sailor.
